Common questions
Exterior Painting in San Diego — FAQ
- How much does exterior painting cost in San Diego?
- A professional exterior repaint runs about $3.50–$5.50 per square foot for a standard stucco home in fair-to-good condition, or roughly $5,250–$13,750 for a typical 1,500–2,500 sq ft home. Stucco condition is the biggest variable. We quote after a walkthrough.
- How long does exterior paint last in San Diego?
- A properly applied system lasts about 7–12 years depending on sun exposure and coastal proximity. South- and west-facing walls and homes near the ocean fade sooner. Prep quality is the single biggest factor in lifespan.
- When is the best time to paint an exterior in San Diego?
- Late September through November and late February through April are the most reliable windows. Summer brings marine-layer moisture on the coast and high heat inland; winter brings rain. We test surface moisture rather than going purely by the calendar.
- Do you repair stucco before painting?
- Yes. Stucco assessment and crack repair are included in our exterior scope. We open and fill cracks and prime them before topcoat — painting over a crack just lets it reappear within a season.
